Gilroy Police Trying to Solve Robberies Six Minutes Apart

GILROY, Calif - Gilroy Police are trying to solve two robberies that happened less than six minutes apart Saturday night.

According to Gilroy Police, the first happened at 10:26 Saturday night , when two men attacked and robbed an on duty cab driver parked near the intersection of I.O.O.F. and Murray Avenue. Two men got into passenger section of the car and demanded money from the victim, then started punching and choking him while they grabbed his money. They then ran southbound on Murray Avenue. One of the suspects may have been armed with a knife which was not used or seen during the robbery.

The victim sustained minor injuires during the robbery but refused medical treatment.

The second happened six minutes later at 10:32 when a man robbed a man walking down the 500 block of I.O.O.F Avenue at knifepoint. According to Police, the suspect asked the victim his gang affiliation, when he said he wasn't in a gang the suspects took some personal items and then ran off southbound on Murray Avenue.

The victim was not injured.

It is unknown at this time if the robberies are connected.
