FREMONT - Few people can imagine what it is like to be kidnapped. But, one person who can is Midsi Sanchez who was kidnapped 12 years ago. She said after she was found, her life was never be the same.
"He put his hands over my mouth and body. I was kicking, screaming crying," Sanchez said.
Sanchez remembers the terrifying moments in 1990 when she was kidnapped on her way home from school.
She escaped two days later.
"I tried all the keys and finally I found one that fit and I was able to unlock the padlock and freed my left foot from that tight chain that was wrapped around it for days," she said.
Now 12 years later, Sanchez is reliving her terrifying past actively helping along with a thousand other people to find Sierra LaMar.
"Some people it changes them for the worst, some for the better. I've heard stories where people are just scared and don't go back to normal," she said.
She said if LaMar is found alive, she'll need the help and support not just from her family, but from the friends and even strangers spending countless hours searching for her.
Sanchez hopes to be one of those people because she knows what LaMar is going through.
"Helping others is like a healing process for me," she said. "I was blessed to be able to come back home. Most kids don't."
