MORGAN HILL, Calif. – Early Tuesday morning, several hundred volunteers lined around Burnett Elementary School in Morgan Hill for a missing Morgan Hill Teen, who was last seen March 16th. At least 400 of them signed up, got prepped, and then headed out the door.
Star McBrian is one of them. The San Jose mother said she couldn't imagine what Sierra's parents are going through, and she knew she had to be here today.
"It's a little rough, but I think with this team, we can keep it together. You never know what to expect," said Star McBrian.
During the search, McBrian said she never expected to be out in Morgan Hill with strangers, searching for a girl she doesn't even know, but she explained why.
"Close to home, and the thought that she got taken on her way to school, just went missing, and she's got to be somewhere," said McBrian.
There are a lot of people like Star McBrian who showed up today for the first time, getting involved a search as big as Sierra's. They're going through brush, climbing up hills, looking for any evidence or clues that would lead them to 15-year-old Sierra Lamar.
Stefan Medina also has his own reason for being out here this week, even if it meant giving up his paycheck, "The money don't mean nothing. Like I said, someone's child is out there, and it could be mine. It's not about the work; it's about finding this child."
All 400 volunteers have their own story for getting involved in the search, and while each of them may be different, all have one thing in common… Finding Sierra Lamar.
