Girl Escapes Attempted Kidnapping in Hollister

HOLLISTER, Calif - Hollister Police are investigating an attempted kidnapping that occurred Tuesday night.

According to Hollister Police, around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night officers were dispatched to a report of an attempted robbery at Miller Road and Central Avenue. When they arrived they discovered a 16-year-old victim of an attempted kidnapping. The female victim managed to escape unharmed. 

According to the victim, she was walking down Central Avenue when an unknown male suspect approached her from behind. The suspect placed a knife to her throat and told her to keep quiet and walk. Once they reached the intersection of Central Avenue and Matulich Court, the young girl stopped walking and elbowed the suspect in the stomach. She was able to get away. The suspect then ran from the scene and was last seen eastbound on Central Avenue.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male adult, 30-35 years old, dark complexion, about 5' 5", average build, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants. He was clean shaven and spoke with a thick Spanish accent.

The Hollister Police Department encourages residents of Hollister to report suspicious persons and activity in the community.
