Central Coast News KION/KCBAAccused Salinas Child Molester Turns Himself Over To Police

SALINAS, Calif- An accused child molester, who police have been looking for since January, is now behind bars.

Rene Cruz was accused of molesting a child at his girlfriend's daycare four years ago. Police say he took off with his girlfriend and three kids.

Last week his girlfriend, Nelida Vega Gayton, showed up at the police station with her children. She was not arrested but her children are with Child Protective Services. 

Cruz is currently at the Monterey County Jail on a $800,000 dollar bail, said his attorney.
