Salinas Farm Owner Won't Be Fined For Code Violations Following Tragic Accident

Posted: Updated:

SALINAS - The owner of Altman's Farm, where a one-year-old girl died when her own father accidentally ran over her with his SUV, won't be fined after investigators found several violations in the area of the farm.

The Monterey County Resource Management agency launched an investigation into the warehouse on the farm and issued several code violations to Ken Altman, the owner of the farm.

Investigators found the family's home of seven years is unsafe, so Altman said they must move out by next month.

Altman wouldn't go on camera, but said the violations were all a surprise to him.

Investigators said they're not fining him because he's cooperating with their investigation and making the proper changes.

One-year-old Rachel Salinas was killed last month.

The Emmanuel Bilingual Baptist church will hold a benefit fundraiser to help the parents, Cirilo and Ruth Salinas, to help them pay for a new home.

The event will be held on Saturday at the church at 11 a.m.
