CHUALAR, Calif. - A small brush fire in Chualar charred about a quarter acre of land this afternoon.

It happened just before 3:00 pm off Chualar Canyon Road near Old Stage Road. Smoke could be seen a couple miles away.

Crews were able to contain the fire quickly and say it may have started from a planned burn that got out of control from the strong winds.
