WATSONVILE, Calif- A 23 year old Watsonville woman died Friday after an accident involving a dump truck on Highway 129 near Carlton Rd.
According to the California Highway Patrol the accident happened around 10:30 a.m. when the woman driving a red Dodge Neon crossed over the double yellow line on Riverside Dr. leaving town, hit one car coming the opposite direction then lost control. The Neon crossed back over the roadway and was broadsided by a dump truck.
Highway 129 at Carlton was closed for several hours as investigators and the Santa Cruz County Coroner's Office investigated the crash.
The dump truck driver had no injuries, the woman in the first car was taken to Watsonville Hospital but was expected to recover.
