SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. -- San Benito County filed a 62-page lawsuit against medical marijuana dispensary Purple Cross Rx. It was filed on Monday against two dispensary operators and the owner of the property.
In the lawsuit, San Benito County claims the owner of the property on Bolsa Road refused to take all necessary action to evict Purple Cross Rx. It comes a day after Central Coast News showed you a medical marijuana vending machine the shop brought in and hopes to place in medical facilities in the area. The county is seeking a zoning ban against Purple Cross, and in speaking with the company that created the machines, Prescription Vending Machines Inc., they will not be distributing any machines in any jurisdiction that doesn't support them. On the live line, the attorney representing the county said it's working to shutdown operations immediately
"There is no zoning district that is set up in San Benito County that allows for any type of medical marijuana use. So we will be asking that it close down even before we can get a full resolution in court," said
The court hearing is scheduled for next month. We placed a call to Purple Cross Rx's Attorney for comment, but were unable to reach him. The dispensary originally opened in Hollister but was forced out by the city, so it moved into an unincorporated part of San Benito County.
