GILROY, Calif- Do you like collecting small animals? Well, you may want to reconsider living in Gilroy if you do.
The Gilroy City Council is considering a new ordinance, Monday night, that would restrict the number of 'small animals' a residence can have to six animals.
'Small Animals' are defined as chickens, pigeons turkeys pea fowl water fowl and rabbits.
The ordinance would not apply to circuses, agriculture shows and other similar enterprises defined by the city council.
With the six animal allotment, owners would also be required to maintain humane practices defined by the city, such as an adequate water source for the animals and size requirements of their living quarters.
The reason for the ordinance comes after the city code did not have any specifications on small animals, as well as complaints from Gilroy residents.
