Castroville, Calif. - It was a regular Thursday morning for
the Castroville family who lives on Davis Street.
"Somebody came and knocked on the door,"
said victim who wished to remain anonymous.
But when the 35-year-old man who lives in
the home went to answer the door, he found another man with his face covered,
reach into his pocket and pull out a gun.
"I closed the door, and as I closed the
door, they stared shooting through the door," the victim said.
You can see on the door two to three
bullet holes went through the glass and one punctured the wall directly behind
it. The family said it was a miracle no one was hurt.
"I actually pushed or told my daughter to
move out of the way. When I opened the door my daughter jumped to the side and
that is when he started shooting," said the victim.
Six people were inside the home including
three young children getting ready for school.
"I was frightened and scared all of us
were scared in the home," he said. "My main concern was my kids."
After hearing about the shooting, many
neighbors said they will keep a low profile and be careful about answering
their door.
"The shock value of it hasn't really set
in honestly. This is the stuff of Hollywood," said James Pruett, who lives next
door. "I've never been this close to it and I should be a lot more worried than
I am."
Monterey County Sheriff's Deputies said
the suspect ran away and nobody could give them a description of the shooter.
"I didn't see their face too well. He was
covered up. I don't put it past them, if it happened again. He is still out
there," said the victim.
Deputies haven't
said if this shooting is gang related and it is still under investigation.
