SAN JOSE - A Monterey County Marine Biologist indicted on charges of violating the marine mammal protection act made her first appearance in federal court, Thursday morning.

Nancy Black is charged with feeding killer whales in two instances, back in 2004 and 2005, while studying the animals off the coast of Monterey.

A grand jury has also indicted Black on two counts of doctoring a video encounter with a humpback whale and later lying about it.

Nancy Black pleaded not guilty to all of the charges and is set to re-appear in court later this month.
