SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. -- People complained about skateboarders, now the boarders are complaining about a different set of wheels.  Skateboarders in Scotts Valley want the scooters out of their park.

"We shouldn't try to take down new trends, but at the same time it's slightly annoying when you're trying to skate and you've got like scooters in your way," said Luke McCartney, Skater.

Apparently, the boom started after Christmas when a number of kids started showing up to the Scotts Valley Skate Park for a joy ride. City Officials said after some complaints, police kicked those with scooters out, since it's not allowed in the park.  Today I found out the problem isn't just the scooter, but who's riding them.

"Any kid who's 4th grade or below is really causing the problems," said Colin McCahon, Scooter rider.

Colin McMahon rides his scooter at this park all the time and said parents often drop off their 2 to 8-year-old kids to ride their scooters by themselves, even though the rules say kids under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.  Skaters even said some kids will hangout in the bowl, creating a dangerous situation.

"I've hit some kids and the parents get mad at me. I get really upset," said McCahon.

"It's just dangerous, when you get little kids out here that are like 2 years old. There's skateboarders here that are aggressive and stuff," said Aaron Call, Skater.

But what's got parents upset is the fact their kids aren't wanted at the park with their scooters.  Now they're going to City Council to see if they can make some changes to the park's rules.

"I think the argument about, we need to share this wonderful facility, we all need to find a way to cooperate and get along is overpowering," said Scotts Valley City Councilman Jim Reed.

Council is expected to consider the rules at its meeting Wednesday night.
