SEASIDE - Wednesday marks day one of the Governor's enforced dissolution of redevelopment agencies statewide and the city of Seaside may put the future of RDA housing duties in the city's hands.
Seaside City Council members will discuss whether or not to transfer low-income housing duties over to the City of Seaside itself.
The former Seaside redevelopment agency owned 14 low income houses and over 40 low income apartment complexes, in addition to the Salvation Army's low income transitional housing program.
If the city is elected to take over these responsibilities, they will be in charge of selecting individuals to live in the vacant properties, as well as managing associated costs with the homes.
The Seaside City Council is set to discuss this Thursday night.
