Pebble Beach Woman Severely Burned in Bizarre Fire

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif- A woman who has 2nd and 3rd degree burns on 90% of her body is in the hospital after a bizarre fire Thursday afternoon.

Crews received a call for a structure fire around 5:20 p.m but instead of a fire they found the burned woman. According to a CalFire news release, though there was smoke in the kitchen and evidence of direct flame to the cabinet, there was no fire in the residence.

The woman was taken to the hospital by ambulance. She could not be airlifted to the nearest burn unit because of heavy fog that was in the area.

At this time it is still unknown what caused the fire or how the woman got burned. Her condition is unknown.
