New information this morning on California's public safety realignment program. According to the L.A. Times, as thousands of inmates are transitioned into county jails from state prisons, mental health officials are finding they have more serious mental illnesses than anticipated.
It's a Center for Investigative Action Follow Up File. Director of the L.A. County Department of Mental Health says jails and probation agencies are scrambling to provide appropriate and often costly treatment for these inmates. Some of the released inmates had to be transferred directly to phsychiatric hospitals.
