SALINAS, Calif. - Bullying is taking a new form online, but it's not kids attacking other kids. Now, they're turning on their teachers. What kids are doing is they're pushing their teachers over the edge, secretly recording it on their phone and uploading it to Youtube. It's becoming a teachers' worst nightmare. Students are purposely getting them angry so they can capture it all on camera. You can find a number of "Cyberbaiting" videos students are posting on Youtube. In one of them, a teacher is accused of spitting on a student, another one shows a teacher throwing and smashing desks around the classroom as kids laugh.
"When I see this kind of behavior occurring, the concern is what's the underlying problem going on here," said Nancy Kotowski, Monterey County Superintendent.
Monterey County's School District Superintendent Nancy Kotowski said she doesn't know of any reports of it happening here. But they are certainly aware of it now. They're alerting teachers about the spike in "Cyberbaiting" happening across the U.S.
"We'll be addressing some of the very best practices that are in place for insuring that we are creating really healthy school environments for all of our students," said Kotowski.
…And for their teachers as well. According to the Norton Online Family Report, 1 in 5 teachers said they've personally experienced or know of another teacher who experienced "Cyberbaiting."
