Vernal Pools In Paso Robles To Be Studied

PASO ROBLES - The future of some undeveloped land in Paso Robles could be dependent on a tiny creature.

Several vernal pools have been found in an area near Beechwood Drive and Creston Road.

The pools could be home to fairy shrimp, which are an endangered species.

Officials must determine if the shrimp live in the pools before the land can be developed.

The Paso Robles City Council decided Tuesday night to allow the property owners to hire a consultant to study the area.
