FBI: 'Geezer Bandit' Strikes Again on Central Coast

Posted: Updated:

SAN LUIS OBISPO - The Bank of America in downtown San Luis Obispo was robbed, Friday night, and FBI Investigators believe they know the culprit.

Officials believe it's the 'Geezer Bandit.'

The robbery happened just after 5:30 p.m. at the Bank of America on the corner of Higuera and Santa Rosa Streets.

The suspect pointed a gun at the teller and verbally demanded money.

The teller complied and the 'Geezer Bandit' left the bank with a bag of cash.

But this is when, for the first time in the Geezer's bank-robbing history, something went wrong.

A dye-pack exploded in the parking lot and the suspect threw the bag of stained cash to the ground.

"A witness saw a white, BMW Series Five take off from a parking spot on Marsh Street at a high rate of speed. We're not sure if that is associated with this robbery or not." said Lt. Bill Proll with the San Luis Obispo Police Department.

The 'Geezer Bandit' is known to wear a navy-colored blazer, navy or black colored baseball cap, dark colored pants and of course, a mask that resembles an older man.

'Geezer' began robbing banks back in 2009.

Until the robbery this evening, nothing has gone wrong in his heists.

For officials here on the Central Coast, that fact is rewarding.

"There was nobody hurt. There were some shaken up people in the bank, when the suspect was pointing a gun at the teller but nobody was thankfully hurt." Proll tells Your Central Coast News.
