Rollerblading Teen Hurt in Hit and Run Accident

SALINAS, Calif - A Salinas woman is behind bars after police say she hit a rollerblading teenager, breaking his arm, and then fled the scene. 

Blanca Xicum, 39, was traveling northbound on North  Sanborn when she hit struck the victim, a 16 year-old  who was roller blading across the street in the crosswalk at Buckhorn and Sanborn, Salinas Police said.

The victim sustained a broken arm, and some internal injuries. He was transported to a trauma center after being stabilized at a local hospital.  He is expected to survive his injuries. 

Police say Xicum did not stop and drove to the Starbucks Coffee shop at Sanborn and Boronda.  She was taken into custody without incident after witnesses, who saw the hit and run, pointed out the suspect and suspect vehicle. 

Xicum, who was also found to be unlicensed, was lodged at county jail.
