Despite stricter, federal regulations, there's still trouble in toyland. According to a new report released on Tuesday, dangerous and toxic toys are still being found on store shelves.
CALPIRG, a consumer watchdog group, released its 26th Annual Trouble in Toyland Report.
Researchers have scoured the toy aisles for toxic chemicals, choking hazards or toys that are too loud and could hurt a child's ears.
"As parents and grandparents know this is one of the most exciting and joyous times of the year," said Robert Adler, a spokesperson for the Consumer Product Safety Commission. "What we want to do is make sure it's one of the safest times of the year as well."
There are 30 toys on this year's list.
They include a plastic book for babies, a wooden blocks set and a child's mask.
Since 1990, more than 400 children have died from toy-related injuries.
Choking is blamed for more than half of the deaths.
