Police Arrest Man for Burglary and Theft of Copper Wire

Posted: Updated:

HOLLISTER, Calif - Holllister Police are investigating whether a man they arrested for burglary and copper wire theft Monday morning may be connected to more cases.

Hollister Police arrested James Robert McKuin, 35, for commercial burglary and trespassing when officers discovered him taking copper wire from the Pacific Gas & Electric facility on Seventh Street.

McKuin, a Hollister transient, was arrested and booked into the San Benito County Jail on charges of burglary and trespassing.

Copper theft has been a large problem in Hollister and surrounding areas. Often, the theft of copper wire results in damage to property many times more costly than the value of the wire itself.

Hollister Police are still actively investigating this case to determine if McKuin is connected to other recent thefts of copper wire.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is requested to contact Officer Rosie Betanio at(831)-636-4330. Persons wishing to remain anonymous may call WeTIP at (800) 78-CRIME. Information provided to WeTip may result in an award of up to $1,000.
