Six Abandoned Puppies Found at Plastics Recycling Plant

Posted: Updated:

ROYAL OAKS, Calif- The SPCA for Monterey County says that someone deliberately abandoned six puppies at a plastics recycling plant in Royal Oaks.

The six Australian Shepherd puppies were found Wednesday by SPCA Humane Officers. The puppies, approximately 2 ½ months old, were hungry, dehydrated, flea-infested, and suffering from foxtails and worms.

Humane Officers found tire tracks at the scene and believe that the suspect drove to the fenceline and tossed the puppies over sometime very recently.

The SPCA is calling the four male and two female puppies Grover, Elmo, Bert, Ernie, Lily, and Zoe. The puppies are now safe at the SPCA and receiving medical care.

If you have any information about this case, please contact The SPCA at 831-373-2631 or 422-4721 x213.  All calls are completely confidential.  To learn how you can help, put your name on a list of potential adopters, report animal cruelty and neglect, or donate to help rescue animals please call the SPCA or donate online at www.SPCAmc.org.

The SPCA for Monterey County is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.
