Q: Is a New Gas Station Opening on Del Monte Boulevard in Marina?

A: Our KION Question came from Rachel in Marina.  She wrote in, after noticing the former Shell Gas Station on the corner of Reindollar and Del Monte Boulevard has finally been leveled after many years of not being in business.

Rachel asks us, "Does the City of Marina already has prospective businesses going into the lot?"

The answer is yes.  The City of Marina Planning Department said a new Shell Gas Station is moving into the former location.  The company in charge of the project is based in the bay area.

According to the City of Marina, there is no official opening date for the new station.  It will be constructed from the ground-up. 

The former Shell Gas Station was operated by Medhi Shahbazi.  Shahbazi died in November, 2007 after going on a hunger strike to protest big oil companies and the price gouging he witnessed.  The gas station had been fenced off since 2007.
