OAKLAND, Calif. - Occupy Oakland already has support from hundreds of people today as they try to shut down the city. Ahead of the possible city-wide strike, at least one bank in the area reports it will close today. Hundreds of teachers are expected to walk out of classrooms and schools are getting substitute teachers ready in case that happens.
The Oakland School for Arts is shutting down as a safety precaution. The Howard Terminal at the Oakland Port is also shutting down. Tensions are high right now as Oakland's mayor warned business owners to make sure they have high quality locks to prevent looting. But Occupy Oakland insists things will remain peaceful.
