KING CITY, Calif- On Saturday October 8, 2010 at 3:30 PM, the four South Monterey County Police Departments of King City, Greenfield, Soledad and Gonzales, along with Officers from, Hollister Police Department, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Monterey County Probation, and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Office participated in a multi-jurisdictional gang suppression operation. Members of the agencies specifically targeted gang activity in the cities of King City, Greenfield and Soledad.
Ten people were arrested as part of a continuing multi-agency gang operation that included traffic stops, pedestrian checks and home visits for gang members on probation and parole.
King City Police said this suppression and prevention component is a vital part of the on-going "Four Cities for Peace" (4C4P) initiative.
During the operation, 10 people were arrested on a variety of charges including possession of methamphetamine for sales, child endangerment, warrants, DUI, and probation violations. All of those arrested were taken to the Monterey County Jail. Officers also performed 47 traffic stops, 32 pedestrian checks and approximately 15 residential visits regarding probation or parole compliance checks.
The suppression and prevention efforts included compliance checks at the residences of active parolee's and probationer's, traffic stops, consensual encounters, pedestrian checks and vehicle checks.
This operation was the 20th in a number of ongoing efforts to address gang and youth violence in South Monterey County.
