Bryan Stow Speaks After Surgery, Asks For His Kids

Posted: Updated:

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif.- A week after the brutally beaten Giants fan and Scotts Valley father Bryan Stow underwent another major surgery for a shunt, his family posted on their website that Bryan spoke, even asked for his children.

Stow's family said they've seen slight progress following his latest surgery, like being able to move his left arm, but this a big move since Stow was attacked in March outside Dodgers Stadium after a game.

His family said, "Bryan had his speaking valve on his trachea and when the speech therapists asked his first and last name, he said them."

The Stow family said Bryan responded when asked about his daughter's name.

"He said, 'Tabby' and when she [therapist] asked what that was short for, he said, 'Tabitha.' She then asked what his son's name was and he said, 'Tyler,'" the family posted. "When asked what his birthday was, Bryan then said, '2/12/1969.'"

Family said while holding up pictures of Tyler and Tabitha, Bryan said, "I would like to see them."

With the help of a speech valve, the family said Bryan told Erin he loved her.

"We are blown away with all of this. Literally, one day we got some facial responses and the next, he's talking. His voice is gravelly and you have to be close to hear him, but he is talking," the family wrote, adding they are hopeful and excited that Bryan is more alert and responsive.

San Francisco doctors are still watching and monitoring blood clots that could go into Bryan's lungs.
