Q: Can An Inexperienced Student Find Work?

A: Rachel in Salinas asked us, "What kind of jobs can students get who have no experience?"

According to Sam Trevino with the Monterey County Department of Social and Employment Services, in this economy Trevino says students are competing for entry level jobs with experienced workers and college graduates. He says summer jobs are important to a student's career, Trevino recommends volunteering at organizations like the Red Cross, Animal Friends Rescue Project or a hospital for experience. This will add to a student's resume and help get them a paying job in the future. A student can also contact the Monterey County Office for Employment Training for help.
