Castroville Cold Storage Facility Evacuated After Ammonia Leak

CASTROVILLE, Calif. - A cold storage facility is back open in Castroville, after an ammonia leak Saturday afternoon.  North Monterey County Fire Officials said they were able to cap the leak in a refrigerated unit, after evacuating the building at Del Monte and Blackie Roads.  CHP Officers shut down Del Monte as a precaution.  No injuries were reported.

CASTROVILLE, Calif - North Monterey County District fire crews are on scene of an ammonia leak at a cold storage facility on Del Monte and Blackie Roads.

According officials on scene there is no word on what is causing the leak, but they have evacuated the building and shutdown Del Monte Road as a precaution.

There are no reports of any injuries.
