SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - On Thursday, the Los Angeles Times is reporting Los Angeles Police have arrested two new suspects for the attack of beaten Giants fan Bryan Stow. The article also said police are now saying Giovanni Ramirez, who they said was the main suspect, isn't responsible.
Los Angeles Police haven't shared much with Stow's family. They know very little just that two people are in jail for attacking Bryan and they're just waiting and hoping police caught the right guys.
"We are waiting just like everybody else," says Bryan's cousin Johnny Stow. "We know they have a big job to do. They have a lot of work to do. We are putting our faith in the LAPD right now."
It's a different reaction from Bryan Stow's family when they heard about the new arrests. When LAPD first arrested Giovanni Ramirez, the family was ecstatic. His cousin Johnny remains guarded. He said he won't believe anything unless he hears it from LAPD.
"I will wait to hear everything from LAPD," says Johnny Stow. "Just because it's in print doesn't make it true."
He's referring to a Los Angeles Times article, saying police arrested two new suspects and the man they took into custody, Ramirez is no longer responsible for the attack. LAPD isn't talking to the media and the problem, they aren't really talking to the stow family either, leaving them with more questions than answers.
"There's a lot of work to be done," says Johnny Stow. "We understand what a long road it is for the LAPD. We are really waiting for the legal process to take shape here."
Meantime, Johnny said the family's focus is on Bryan's recovery. He remains in critical condition at San Francisco General Hospital.
"No matter what happens on that side, it's never really going to help Bryan," says Johnny Stow. "Will it help somebody else down the line? Absolutely. We are really trying to focus on Bryan trying to make him be the best person he can be after such an ugly tragedy."
LAPD haven't named any new suspects. Los Angeles Times said it's not clear what evidence prompted them to make these arrests.
