Second Monterey Peninsula Bank Robbed in One Afternoon

Posted: Updated:

SAND CITY, Calif. - Two Central Coast banks were robbed Monday afternoon and Police are searching for the suspect.  Sand City Police say a man presented a note to a teller at the satellite Bank of America branch inside Savemart.  The note stated "this is a robbery" and requested money from the teller.  It happened at 3:35 p.m.

Sand City Police said no weapon was displayed and no mention of a weapon was made.  The teller complied and gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash from her drawer.

Earlier in the day, a bank robbery in the City of Monterey occurred and the suspect in that robbery fits the description of the suspect in this case.  Sand City police said both departments will work together in an effort to identify and apprehend the suspect.

Please contact the Sand City Police department at 831-394-1451 if you have any information that would help identify him.

Earlier, at 2:30 p.m., Monterey Police say the Santa Barbara Bank and Trust was robbed by a lone male adult.  Like the Sand City case, the suspect is described as being white, in his early 30's, approximately 6'0, and 180 pounds.

The suspect was dressed in dark clothing. No weapons were used and no one was injured in the Monterey robbery.

Monterey Police said the investigation will continue and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has been notified.
