Q: What Not Tax the Marina Card Rooms for Revenue?

A: Our KION Question came from Ron in Hollister.

He asked us, "Why doesn't the City of Marina tax the card rooms for revenue?"

Here is the response from Lauren Lai, Finance Director for the City of Marina:

The City Council considered a card room tax last spring/summer during its various revenue deliberations.  However, based upon information conveyed by the two card rooms, it was deemed that such card room tax would yield a (minimal) amount of new revenues, especially in comparison with the new temporary add-on sales tax and increased TOT tax being considered at the time.
