SALINAS, Calif- Jacob Miller, the son of Monterey County Sheriff Scott Miller, was in court Thursday afternoon and pleaded not guilty to charges that he was selling methamphetamines.

Tuesday, members of the Narcotics Task Force served a search warrant at Jacob Miller's apartment, which is attached to his fathers house in Pacific Grove. According to a Sheriff's Department news release, they found meth and digital scales at the apartment.

Jacob Miller was taken into custody but had to be moved to the Santa Cruz County Jail because of his relationship to Monterey County Sheriff, Scott Miller.

Central Coast News Reporter Katelyn Sykes say that Jacob Miller has posted bond and that his father was at court with his son. Both Sheriff Miller and Jacob Miller left the courtroom without making a statement to the media.

Jacob Miller is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on August 11, 2011.
