Q: Will Aguajito Road be Resurfaced After Water Main Project?

Posted: Updated:

A: Our Kion Question came from Sal in Monterey.

He asked us, "Will the City of Monterey going to resurface Aguajito Road after all that drainage pipe replacing?"

Here's the response from Hans Uslar, Monterey's Assistant Director Plans and Public Works:

The project on Aguajito RD replaced water main lines. This project was funded and managed by Cal-Am and not the City of Monterey.

We are not satisfied with the current state of the road either. The City has not accepted the work that was completed by a contractor working for Cal-Am. We have informed Cal- Am about our concerns and are working through the final stages of solving that issue collaboratively. We are hopeful that the road will be resurfaced soon.

BACKGROUND: Cal-Am installed nearly 4,000 feet of new water main.  The project cost an estimated  $2.5 million.
