A: Our KION Question came from Curtis in Salinas. He said, "I have had my mail missing from our mailbox 3 times over the last 3 years."
He asked us, "At what point does the postmaster deem it time to investigate missing mail? Is it the first time it happens? The second? Third?"
Here's the answer Central Coast News received from Augustine Ruiz, of the United State Postal Service:
A postmaster investigates each and every time he is made aware of missing mail. The sanctity of the mail is of upmost importance to the USPS, which is why we have the oldest policing agency in the country - the United States Postal Inspection Service.
Every report is recorded and if a trend appears the USPIS is brought into the investigation.
It does not matter the class of mail, whether first class, standard mail (advertising mail), packages, or greeting cards - mail is mail and is treated with the upmost security in delivery.
