Harsh words from Bryan's cousin after reading Steigerwald's article that ran in a local Pennsylvania newspaper this week.
Steigerwald wrote, "Someone should ask Bryan why he thought it was a good idea to wear
Giants gear to a Dodgers home opener when there was a history of out-of-control drunkenness and arrests."
"If you truly feel that way," says Stow. "I feel sorry for that person."
John Stow said Steigerwald was looking for shock value and used Bryan's tragedy for his own personal gain.
Central Coast News tried calling John Steigerwald but had no luck. But on his blog Wednesday, he wrote quote, "I don't apologize for the column, but I do apologize to the Stow family if this nonsense has reached them and in any way added to their pain."
He went on to write he doesn't blame stow for the beating he took, but blames the increasing out of control behavior by fans. But for Bryan's family, that apology might not be good enough.
"It's so foolish to hear what he had to say," says Stow. "I don't know maybe his parents didn't hug him enough as I child. I don't know. It's ugly, what he did was ugly."
