WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Central Coast's Democratic congressional representatives voiced their thoughts ahead of a late Sunday vote for national health care legislation.
Rep. Sam Farr used his time on the floor of the House of Representatives to recall a letter written to him by Carmel native Ben Spangenberg, who was in the gallery Sunday morning. Spangenberg wrote Farr regarding his problems in getting health insurance because of a pre-existing condition.
"Emancipate people into the work force, allow them to have insurance," Farr declared on behalf of Spangenberg's request for the passage of overhaul legislation.
Rep. Anna Eshoo threw in her support as well, recalling Teddy Roosevelt's and Ted Kennedy's support of national health care.
"I believe that by voting for this legislation, I am standing on the right side of history," Eshoo said in a statement.
