Pentagon Shooter Used Internet to Voice Views

The search for insight into the background of the Hollister man who shot two police officers at the Pentagon has led many to the Internet.

John Patrick Bedell was killed Thursday night in return gunfire during the incident at the entrance to the Pentagon.

A YouTube channel under the name "jpbedell2006" shows one uploaded video by Bedell from 2006, outlining a plan explaining how to create a market for the use of information.  The channel also lists three "favorited" videos by Bedell, one of an internet news clip that looks into claims that the case for the Iraq War was deceptive and premeditated.

As well, a Wikipedia page linked to Bedell, a user by the name JPatrickBedell revealed ill feelings toward the government and the armed forces and made reference to another conspiracy theory.  The page has since been removed.

A blog check revealed an audio clip by a "jpbedell2006" titled "Directions to Freedom"; in the eight-minute statement, ideas against government control of private property and information were discussed.

"There has been a continual erosion of the protection of private property, justified by the belief that government is an efficient instrument for the positive direction of society," begins the audio statement.

The statement goes on to claim governments use deception to gain support for "their wicked schemes."

"One of the greatest problems facing humanity today is the deliberate creation of conflict in order to extend the control of a tiny elite who seek to rule the world from the shadows."

The person delivering the statement, believed to be Bedell, calls for individuals to continually fight against government control and claims a personal "responsibility" to confront forces that undermine a "legacy of justice, prosperity, and tranquility" in the United States.

On Friday, San Benito County Sheriff Curtis Hill said Bedell had a history of mental illness, adding that his behavior had become erratic in recent weeks.
