CARMEL VALLEY, Calif- On Sunday, Employees of Carmel Valley's Quail Lodge held a vigil outside of the hotel in a show of support on their final day of work.
In September Quail Lodge announced that it will shut down its hotel operations leaving roughly 200 people without jobs.
Neil Galloway, owner of the Quail Lodge said the hotel's had net losses for the past eight years. He also described how the economic downturn affected occupancy. "I think certainly we've seen reduced occupancy and reduced rate particularly in the last six months."
The Quail Lodge's clubhouse and golf course will remain open, however, some services will be reduced.
