Monterey County Set to Award Ambulance Contract

Posted:
SALINAS, Calif. - The Monterey County Board of Supervisors will tentatively award on Tuesday a five-year contract to American Medical Response to provide ambulance service.

AMR returns as the county's ambulance service after it was dumped in 2006, following a wrongful death lawsuit and allegations of drug use by AMR employees.

Since then WestMed had been serving as the county's paramedics provider, but it ran into financial troubles, requiring a one million dollar loan by the county.
