Classic Car Show at the Presidio of Monterey - Central Coast News KION/KCBA

PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, Calif. -The Presidio of Monterey will hold a Classic Car Show on Oct. 3 from noon to 6 p.m. at Soldier Field in conjunction with Operation Rising Star Finale. The event is open to all street rods, classics, muscle cars, exotic cars, special interest cars and trucks and low riders.

Performers have been competing since July in the Army's Rising Star competition. The final group of eight will compete Saturday for the title of Presidio's Rising Star 2009.

Car show participants will display their cars to compete for prizes and awards.

Service members will judge the cars for Best of Show, Garrison Commander's Award, Military Choice Award and 24 Awards of Excellence.

The event will feature music, a disk jockey, and a poker walk with food, beer and wine for sale with appropriate ID. Call 917-3016 for more information regarding the Classic Car show.

The High Street gate will open at 11 a.m. for check-in, rain or shine. Spectators are allowed to enter through High Street gate at noon. The event is open to the public.
