SEASIDE, Calif. - Seaside semi-professional basketball team announced Friday R. Ruby Richman will be the team's head coach for it's inaugural season.
An official announcement will be made at a press conference on Thursday. Ruby Richman is known in Canada as "Mr. Basketball" and is credited with bringing the NBA to Toronto.
Richman's history is steeped in sports; he was drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1952 and later captained and coached the Canadian national basketball team.
In 1980 he was inducted to the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame. Richman also held managerial positions in the NBA and ABA. The Sea Kings are set to debut at Hartnell College on December 6.
