Feds Hear Arguments on Nat'l Leafy Greens Proposal

Posted:

MONTEREY, Calif. - Testimony began Monday in Monterey at a hearing to decide on a proposal to take California's Leafy Green Agreement nationwide.

This session is the first of seven hearings scheduled throughout the United States.  The proposal came from representatives of the fresh produce industry regarding the establishment of a national marketing agreement for handlers of leafy green vegetables.

The hearings will be completed at the end of October.  Following a period of public comment, a federal judge will rule on the national plan.
