MONTEREY, Calif. - The troubled economy has had an effect on this year's Monterey Jazz Festival and jazz fans look to reap the benefits.
For the first time in decades, the festival is selling individual arena tickets separate from arena packages.
Officials say this year's ticket sales reflected the state of the economy and this was the response to get more fans on the grounds..
"First time in my history, 28 years and i don't recall this happening before," said Paul Fingerote, marketing director. "It's good news for fans and now for a few dollars more you get the arena and the grounds.*
Fingerote says arena packages generally sell out by June.
This is the jazz festival's 52nd year.
