The San Jose Sharks announced Monday they have reached an agreement on a three-year contract with restricted free agent forward Tommy Wingels. While financial details were not disclosed, CSN Bay Area reported on Saturday that the deal is worth $7.4 million, with an average salary cap hit of $2.47 million.

Wingels, 26, had 16 goals and 22 assists in 77 games last season to go along with a team-high 218 hits. He was also used as a penalty killer and on the second power-play unit, and is one of several young players expected to play an increased role next season.

In 157 career NHL games, Wingels has 24 goals and 36 assists.

Restricted free agent defenceman Jason Demers has also filed for salary arbitration for next season.
