WATSONVILLE, Calif. -

Watsonville Police responded to a shooting Tuesday morning at 164 Grant Street. Dispatch received reports of shots fired around 8:00 a.m.

Officers found one victim with a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The victim did not live in at the home where the shooting happened, but was just walking by. Police believe the shooting is gang-motivated.

Police do not have a suspect in custody, but were canvassing the neighborhood for leads Tuesday morning.

Schools near the crime scene were locked down for about an hour as the scene was just a block from Watsonville High School. The lock down was lifted at 9:15 a.m.

Another shooting was reported on Grant Street last week, but police are not sure if the two shootings are related.
