A suspect is dead from a self inflicted gunshot following a high-speed pursuit with Monterey County Sheriff's Deputies Thursday night.
Monterey County Sheriff Scott Miller tells Central Coast News the suspect was connected to a shooting in Castroville around 9:45 pm..
At that time, deputies came upon 40 year old Charles Williams laying on the ground near the intersection for Jackson and Walsh in Castroville. Williams had multiple serious gunshot wounds He flown to a bay area hospital for treatment.
Suspect 63 year old Frank Rebagliati of Castroville, who lived in the same Castroville residence as Williams, then lead deputies on a highspeed chase on southbound Highway 1 towards Seaside. Rebagliati hit speeds of 110 miles per hour while also running other motorists off the road, according Sheriff Miller.
A pit maneuver was performed by deputies in the area of Highway 1 and Fremont. Law enforcement is trained to use those maneuvers to spin a suspect vehicle; in an effort to end a pursuit.
Deputies say Rebagliati committed suicide at the Seaside location. So far there is no motive for the shooting and Willams remains in the hospital.
