SALINAS, Calif. -

Three people were shot, one fatally, in an armed robbery at a convenient store on Williams Road in east Salinas Friday night.

According to police, two masked males entered the Hot Stop market just before 10 p.m., armed with guns and with the intent to take money from the registers.

When the registers could not be opened, the two began shooting at the three employees inside. Two of them were shot multiple times, killing one of them and seriously injuring the other. The third employee was shot once.

The suspects were last seen running from the store on Williams Road.

A witness who owns the business next door to Hot Spot market told News Channel 5 Friday night that the employee killed was a woman. Police have not released further details about the victims or the suspects' description.
