UPDATE: 3:01 P.M.: The standoff is now over and officers have cleared the building and taken a suspect into custody. According to officers on scene, the suspect did not have a gun, but was threatening violence. The Sheriff's department said the suspect was being taken to the hospital for treatment because his family told police that he had been acting strange for the past few days. Afterwards, he will be booked into jail .

UPDATE: 2:45PM- It looks like officers have taken one person into custody. Our reporter on scene said that someone has come out of the store with his hands up and was taken into custody by officers. However, police are still on a loud speaker telling someone to come out and the scene is still active.

UPDATE: 2:15PM- Traffic is now backing up on Salinas Road coming in and out of Pajaro as this standoff scene continues.  Business owners are upset telling reporters on scene neither they or their customers are able to get in to the area.

Central Coast News is on scene and our reporter says there are at least 14 police cars including units from Watsonville Police, CHP, and Monterey County Sheriff as well as medical personnel.

The officers appear to be focusing on a small market called G's Market on Salinas Road in Pajaro.

We are being told the suspect inside the building may have been trying to rob the place.  Our reporter has heard negotiators calling to the suspect as "John," at least 20 times.
