SALINAS, Calif. -

Salinas police said they are looking for the roommate of a 28-year-old man after they say he stabbed the victim with a lettuce knife in the side, partially disemboweling him.

Investigators said a group was drinking in the backyard of an apartment complex around 6:20 p.m. on the 1100 block of Pacific Ave. when the argument began over money. Police said the two men went inside where the alleged attack happened.

The suspect took off from the scene before police arrived.

The victim was immediately life-flighted to a Bay Area trauma center for treatment.

The suspect is described as 40 years old, 5'9", 150 lbs and last seen wearing a gray shirt and green shorts with white flowers, similar to board shorts.
